I am honoured to have my painting, Muskrat Falls Dam chosen for this year’s card for the International Women’s Day Art Show, on now at the Orillia Museum of Art & History. The theme of this years exhibit is On the Edge. The International Women’s Art Show is an un-juried exhibit of art by women in the Simcoe County area and beyond. Over 130 artists from all modalities and backgrounds, exhibit their art and share their stories.
The team under artist Juliana Hawke’s guidance accomplish a significant feat in the curating this wonderful exhibit. The Women’s Art show has always been a favourite of mine. The work is emotional and full of depth; and is ultimately deeply personal. This is the 24th year that the show has been running, and the initial focus has remained intact. It is an exhibit for women, by women, no matter their experience or education. The fact that it is still so well attended and loved is a testament to the passion of the organizing team and to the importance of this exhibit.
Give yourself some time to move slowly through this show and read the stories that accompany the work.
